The 11th national march, held at central Russell Square, saw protesters carrying Palestinian flags and passionately condemning the British government’s stance on Israel.

Chants of “Rishi Sunak, you can’t hide, we charge you with genocide” echoed through the streets as pro-Palestine demonstrators made their way to the iconic Trafalgar Square. Along the march route, a small group of pro-Israeli protesters staged a counter-demonstration, leading to some arrests among the pro-Palestine crowd.

The situation in Gaza remains dire. Since the October 7 cross-border attack initiated by Hamas, nearly 1,200 Israelis have lost their lives. Shockingly, over 32,700 Palestinians, including many women and children, have perished in Gaza. The region faces widespread destruction, displacement, and famine conditions.

At the International Court of Justice (ICJ), Israel stands accused of genocide. In a significant interim ruling issued in January, Tel Aviv was ordered to halt genocidal acts and ensure the provision of humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza.

The rally in London serves as a powerful reminder of the urgency for peace and justice in the region, as global attention remains focused on the ongoing conflict. (ILKHA)
