The attack on a UNIFIL-designated military vehicle resulted in several injuries, including one critical.

The incident led to four casualties: three international observers from Norway, Chile, and Australia, and a Lebanese translator. They were transported to the town of at-Tiri for medical treatment. The mayor of Rmeish, Milad Alam, confirmed the translator's stable condition following the blast.

The attack occurred in the Qatmoun Valley, on the outskirts of Rmeish, in South Lebanon, after the observers exited a clearly marked UN vehicle. They were monitoring the Blue Line, the line of Israeli withdrawal from 2000.

UNIFIL has confirmed the injuries and stated that an investigation into the origin of the blast is underway. Despite claims from security sources that the injuries were due to an Israeli strike, the Israeli military command has denied involvement in the area.

This event follows a previous targeting of a UNIFIL patrol by Israeli forces near the town of Aitaroun on November 25, 2023. (ILKHA)
