Moderate 3.9 magnitude earthquake strikes near Smolyan, Bulgaria
A moderate magnitude 3.9 earthquake jolted the region today, sending tremors through the town of Smolyan.

The earthquake's epicenter was situated at a shallow depth of 9 kilometers (5.6 miles), amplifying its impact and causing it to be felt more intensely by residents near the source.
The tremor's shallow depth heightened the perceived strength of the quake, making its effects more pronounced compared to a deeper earthquake of similar magnitude.
