Erdogan pledges support for workers and retirees amid high inflation
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan vowed to tackle inflation and improve economic conditions, particularly for workers and retirees.
Speaking at a rally in Bursa, Erdogan assured citizens of forthcoming relief from high inflation and economic challenges. Erdogan emphasized that efforts were underway to address inflation, which he described as a pressing issue affecting economies globally.
Highlighting the impact of inflation on workers and retirees, Erdogan outlined recent measures taken by the government to alleviate financial strain. These measures included significant increases in the minimum wage, pensions, and Eid bonuses, as well as one-off payments to retirees. Additionally, Erdogan announced plans to revise pensions in line with mid-year inflation in July.
Erdogan underscored the government's commitment to supporting various segments of society, including merchants, public servants, and housewives, against the high cost of living. He reiterated the importance of implementing economic programs effectively to ensure price stability and mitigate the impact of inflation.
Looking ahead, Erdogan expressed confidence that inflation would begin to decline in the second half of the year, as the burden of reconstruction in earthquake-affected areas lessens. He urged perseverance in implementing economic strategies to achieve long-term stability and prosperity. (ILKHA)
