The group emphasized that the israeli government has failed to respond positively to their just demands in this matter.

In a statement, Hamas stated that despite its efforts, the Israeli government has not addressed the fundamental demands of the Palestinian people and their resistance. These demands include a comprehensive ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, the repatriation of displaced individuals, and a genuine exchange of prisoners.

Hamas held Benjamin Netanyahu and his administration accountable for obstructing all attempts to negotiate a ceasefire agreement.

After 171 days of conflict in Gaza, the UN Security Council passed a resolution on Monday urging an immediate ceasefire during the holy month of Ramadan, to be respected by all parties and leading to a sustainable and lasting peace.

The resolution garnered support from 14 out of 15 Security Council members, with the United States choosing to abstain from the vote.

Following the resolution's adoption, Hamas issued a statement welcoming the Security Council's call for an immediate ceasefire. The group reiterated the importance of achieving a permanent ceasefire, including the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza and the return of displaced individuals to their homes.

Hamas also expressed readiness to engage in an immediate process of prisoner exchange, aimed at releasing prisoners from both sides. (ILKHA)
