Diyarbakır exhibition draws attention to persecution and massacres
The Association for the Oppressed (Mustazaflar Cemiyeti) organized a painting exhibition in Diyarbakır to raise awareness about the persecution and massacres faced by Muslims worldwide, particularly the ongoing conflict in Gaza and the historical Halabja massacre.
The three-day exhibition, held during "World Oppressed Week" (March 16-23), displayed photographs and models depicting atrocities in various regions. This included the chemical weapons attack on Halabja by Saddam Hussein in 1988 and the ongoing Israeli offensive in Gaza.
Faysal Yeşil, the Diyarbakır Provincial Representative of the Association for the Oppressed, explained that the exhibition aimed to remind Muslims of these atrocities and keep the plight of the Palestinians in Gaza in the public eye.
"We are spending this year's 'World Oppressed Week' in the shadow of Israel's massacres in Gaza," Yeşil said. The exhibition featured images of victims, particularly women and children, from the Gaza conflict. Visitors were also encouraged to share their thoughts and feelings about the situation.
Yeşil emphasized that the exhibition also addressed the Halabja massacre, a Kurdish tragedy that occurred on the same day (March 16th) in 1988.
The Mustazaflar Association representative called for continued protests and support for the Palestinians. "We urge all people of conscience to keep protesting against the Zionist gang's massacres in Gaza and to maintain their support," Yeşil stated.
The exhibition took place at Yenihal Bridge Junction on the first day, and will move to the historic Ulu Mosque in Sur district on Friday and Yenişehir district's Ofis AZC Plaza on Saturday. The visiting hours are from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. (ILKHA)
