This comes amid concerns about Ukraine's dwindling resources in its fight against the Russian invasion.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk pledged to source these weapons from the global market if necessary. This initiative aims to halt Russia's recent military advancements and demonstrate unwavering unity with Ukraine.

"We will acquire even more weapons for Ukraine with immediate effect, throughout the world market," declared Scholz following their meeting in Berlin. He described the plans as "a good improvement" aligned with their "common objective" - to ensure Ukraine's continued defense against Russian aggression.

The leaders, meeting under the "Weimar Triangle" format, also agreed to increase military equipment production, potentially involving collaboration with Ukrainian partners.

Additionally, Scholz proposed the formation of a "new coalition of new capabilities" within the Ramstein framework, focused on supplying long-range missile artillery to Ukraine. The Ramstein format refers to monthly conferences attended by the Ukrainian Defense Consultative Group.

The details of this initiative will be discussed by Defense Ministers from participating countries starting next Monday. (ILKHA)
