Ismail Haneyya: Opportunity for Gaza ceasefire hinges on israeli stance
Ismail Haneyya, head of Hamas’s political bureau, has signaled the potential for a multistage ceasefire agreement in Gaza, contingent upon Israel abandoning its stubborn stance.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Haneyya emphasized Hamas's commitment to ceasefire negotiations, relying on the resilience and innovation of Palestinian resistance forces while advocating for an end to israeli aggression against Gaza's populace.
Haneyya remarked on the evolving position of US President Joe Biden concerning Gaza, noting that its efficacy is being evaluated on the ground. He urged the US administration to intervene decisively to halt Israel's genocidal tactics and starvation campaign in Gaza.
Moreover, Haneyya highlighted the intensifying israeli suppression and aggression against Palestinians in the West Bank, purportedly aimed at diverting support away from Gaza. Despite these efforts, he expressed confidence in the resilience of Palestinians in the West Bank and asserted the futility of Israel's campaign there.
The remarks from the Hamas leader come amidst heightened tensions in the region, with hopes pinned on diplomatic efforts to broker a ceasefire and alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. (ILKHA)
