Türkiye and US issue joint statement on Gaza genocide and humanitarian crisis
In a joint statement released on Saturday, Türkiye and the United States highlighted the crucial need to find a resolution to the genocide in Gaza and address the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
The statement emerged following the seventh meeting of the US-Türkiye Strategic Mechanism in Washington.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry, in their statement after the meeting between Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, underscored the urgency of finding a solution to the Gaza conflict and immediately addressing the humanitarian crisis.
The joint statement emphasized: "Türkiye and the US recognize the importance of finding a resolution to the conflict in Gaza and swiftly alleviating the humanitarian crisis."
Furthermore, the two nations announced the relaunch of Türkiye-US Counterterrorism Consultations to bolster cooperation against terrorism that poses a threat to their national security.
Additionally, both Türkiye and the US pledged to enhance defense industry cooperation, with an emphasis on capitalizing on opportunities for advancement. They also affirmed the significance of developing bilateral forums to foster greater economic collaboration.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry reiterated their commitment to deepening ties with the US and addressing pressing regional and global challenges through mutual cooperation. (ILKHA)
