Five Palestinians killed, several injured by airdropped aid boxes in Gaza
Five Palestinians were killed and several others injured when airdropped aid boxes struck them in northwest Gaza City on Friday.
The casualties occurred as parachutes failed to open, causing the boxes to fall directly on citizens and their homes.
Civil Defense spokesman in Gaza, Major Mahmoud Basal, confirmed the fatalities and injuries, stating that the incident occurred when the aid boxes fell over the heads of citizens and onto their residences. The tragedy unfolded in the Beach Camp area of the northern Gaza Strip.
Video footage shared on social media depicted an aircraft dropping humanitarian aid boxes in the affected area at a rapid pace. Unfortunately, some of the boxes failed to deploy their parachutes, resulting in casualties among the crowd gathered to receive assistance.
Local and Palestinian media sources corroborated the reports of casualties, highlighting the severity of the situation.
The Jordanian army announced its involvement in the airdrops, conducted in cooperation with several countries, with a total of nine airdrops executed in various locations across the northern Gaza Strip. (ILKHA)
