Snowfall in Afghanistan leads to livestock deaths, aid efforts underway
The Balkh Media Center released a statement detailing the losses, which occurred in various districts across the province, including Shulgarh, Chahi, Kishandeh, and Kaldar.
The statement added that an emergency committee has been established to assist affected communities. The committee is focusing on saving both human and animal lives by delivering food supplies to the affected areas.
Similar reports of livestock deaths have emerged from Kandahar province, where local authorities reported over 1,000 cattle deaths in the past three days.
These developments come amidst efforts by the Islamic Emirate to address the situation. On Thursday, the group allocated 50 million Afghanis (approximately $615,000 USD) to support livestock protection measures during the extreme weather conditions. (ILKHA)
