Turkish authorities apprehend suspects attempting to escape to Greece
Turkish authorities have detained five individuals suspected of belonging to illegal organizations in Edirne province while attempting to flee to Greece.
Reports indicate that the Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams arrested the suspects, two of whom are alleged members of the PKK/KCK (Kurdistan Workers' Party/Kurdistan Communities Union) and three linked to the FETÖ/PDY (Fethullahist Terrorist Organization/Parallel State Structure), also known as the Gülen movement. The arrests took place over the past week.
Following their apprehension, the suspects underwent processing at the police station before being referred to the courthouse for further proceedings.
The PKK/KCK is recognized as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States, and the European Union, while the Turkish government accuses the FETÖ/PDY of orchestrating the failed coup attempt in 2016. (ILKHA)
