Odesa death toll rises to 8 after Russian drone strike
The death toll from a Russian drone attack on Odesa has climbed to eight, with rescue workers pulling another body from the rubble late tonight, according to the State Emergency Service.
The overnight strike devastated a multi-story building, destroying 18 apartments and trapping residents beneath the debris. Search and rescue operations are ongoing, but authorities fear the final number of casualties may rise further.
Among the latest victims are a woman and her three-month-old baby. Eight others, including a child, were injured in the attack, according to reports. Five people were rescued from the wreckage.
The strike was part of a broader attack across Ukraine, with the Air Force claiming to have intercepted 14 of 17 Russian Shahed drones.
Odesa Oblast Governor Oleh Kiper declared March 3 a day of mourning to honor those killed in the attack. (ILKHA)
