The announcement was made by Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki during the Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF).

Egyptian Foreign Minister Samih Shukri and al-Maliki participated in a panel discussion titled “Gaza Contact Group,” moderated by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

In the discussion, Fidan reiterated Ankara's position on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, emphasizing that Israel's security could only be achieved if it relinquished control over Palestinian territories. He stressed the importance of returning to the 1967 borders for sustainable security in the region.

Fidan also posed a question to al-Maliki regarding the role of regional countries, including Turkey, in resolving the conflict amidst escalating violence and the risk of war.

Al-Maliki accused Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu of instigating attacks in Gaza with the aim of expanding the conflict beyond its borders. He alleged that Netanyahu sought to involve the United States and escalate tensions in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Iran.

The announcement of Abbas's visit comes amid heightened tensions in the region, with the Gaza Strip enduring significant casualties. Between October 7 and February 29, Israel reportedly killed at least 30,000 people in Gaza, predominantly women and children. (ILKHA)
