OIC to hold emergency meeting on israel’s genocide in Gaza
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will convene an extraordinary meeting of its Council of Foreign Ministers on March 5th to address the ongoing israel’s genocide in Gaza.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has announced plans to convene an extraordinary meeting of its Council of Foreign Ministers in response to the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.
Scheduled for March 5 at the OIC General Secretariat headquarters in Jeddah, the session aims to address the escalating situation in the region.
OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha is slated to deliver the opening address, with a preparatory senior officials' meeting (SOM) set for Monday to finalize the agenda and work program. The draft resolution will be deliberated upon during the Council of Foreign Ministers' session the following day.
This move follows previous initiatives, including the extraordinary Joint Arab and Islamic Summit held in Riyadh on October 11, which saw the adoption of measures to combat Israeli aggression. Among these was the formation of a committee comprising foreign ministers from member states to engage with global capitals and international bodies in efforts to halt the violence.
In further efforts, the OIC held an open-ended Executive Committee extraordinary meeting at the foreign ministers' level on October 18, signaling continued determination to address the crisis. (ILKHA)
