Maritime traffic halted in Istanbul Strait due to heavy fog
Maritime traffic in the Istanbul Strait has been brought to a standstill as a result of dense fog, authorities announced earlier today.
According to the Directorate General of Coastal Safety, the normally bustling waterway has been closed to all two-way ship traffic since 5:30 local time. The decision was made in light of deteriorating visibility conditions, posing significant risks to sea travel.
The fog, which intensified throughout the morning hours, has severely limited visibility, prompting officials to take swift action to ensure the safety of maritime operations in the area.
This closure is expected to remain in effect until visibility improves and conditions become safer for navigation through the strait. (ILKHA)
