Ukraine inks long-term security deal with Canada
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced the signing of a 10-year bilateral security agreement with Canada during a meeting with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Kyiv today.
The agreement marks a significant step towards bolstering Ukraine's defense capabilities as the country continues to face ongoing conflict.
"This agreement strengthens the position of our people, particularly our soldiers," President Zelenskiy stated, highlighting the importance of the pact for Ukrainian security.
The agreement follows similar arrangements struck by Ukraine with Italy, Britain, Germany, France, and Denmark in recent weeks. These deals aim to provide long-term security partnerships until Ukraine achieves its goal of joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
Expressing his satisfaction with the latest development, President Zelenskiy emphasized the "strong and timely decision" made by Canada, further stating that it will "significantly strengthen our resilience."
This latest security agreement strengthens the international support Ukraine has received in its ongoing struggle, highlighting its bid for eventual NATO membership. (ILKHA)
