This move would remove the final hurdle for Sweden's accession to the military alliance, nearly two years after its historic application.

"It's good news that our dispute with Sweden will soon be settled," Orban declared in a major speech, confirming that Hungary will vote in favor of ratification when parliament reconvenes on February 26th. This marks a shift in stance for Hungary, which had previously delayed the process.

Sweden's NATO application, alongside Finland's, followed Russia's military operation in Ukraine. Orban acknowledged efforts to "rebuild trust" with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, paving the way for this positive outcome.

With Hungarian approval imminent, Sweden's NATO membership awaits finalization. Upon ratification by all member states, Sweden will gain access to the collective defense pact, bolstering regional security and signifying NATO's continued expansion. (ILKHA)
