Turkish agricultural producer prices surge annually by 57.85%, monthly increase at 3.85%
The Turkish Statistical Institute revealed in a statement on Friday that the Producer Price Index of Agricultural Products (Agriculture-PPI) experienced a significant surge, rising by 57.85% annually and 3.85% monthly.
According to the report, the Agriculture-PPI (2020=100) saw a monthly increase of 3.85%, a year-on-year increase of 57.85%, and a twelve-month moving average increase of 61.85% in January 2024.
Breaking down the sectors, products related to agriculture, hunting, and forestry recorded notable increases. Specifically, products of agriculture and related services increased by 3.45%, products of forestry and logging by 9.26%, and fish and aquaculture products by 11.54%.
In terms of main groups, non-perennial crops rose by 0.69%, perennial crops by 8.51%, and live animals and animal products by 4.06%.
Despite the overall increase, the annual change varied across subgroups. Oleaginous fruits stood out with the highest annual rate of change at 154.68%.
Similarly, monthly changes showed variations among subgroups, with tropical and subtropical fruits leading the way with a 26.11% increase.
Overall, while some subgroups experienced lower changes compared to the general Agriculture-PPI, others recorded higher rates, reflecting the complex dynamics within the agricultural sector. (ILKHA)
