Turkish Defense Ministry reports 398 PKK/YPG members neutralized in 2024
The Turkish Ministry of Defense has released a statement announcing the neutralization of 398 PKK/YPG members since the start of the year.
Rear Admiral Zeki Aktürk, Press and Public Relations Advisor, provided further details during a weekly press briefing on the activities of the Ministry of National Defense.
In the past week, security forces neutralized 39 terrorists. Since January 1, 2024, a total of 398 terrorists have been eliminated, with 151 in northern Iraq and 247 in northern Syria.
The Turkish borders, fortified by physical security measures and advanced technology, remain vigilant. In the last week, 253 individuals attempting illegal crossings were apprehended. Notably, eight of these apprehended individuals were confirmed members of terrorist organizations. Additionally, 3,448 people were prevented from crossing the border.
Since the beginning of the year, a total of 1,146 individuals have been apprehended while attempting to cross the borders illegally. The number of people successfully prevented from unauthorized entry stands at 24,537.
The Ministry of Defense continues to prioritize national security and safeguarding the borders against threats. The multi-layered security system remains effective in maintaining peace and stability in the region. (ILKHA)
