Turkish job market sees modest growth in December
The Turkish Statistical Institute reported a 1.7% annual increase in the number of paid employees across various sectors in December 2023 compared to the same period the previous year.
The total count rose from 14,800,999 to 15,057,373 during this time frame, according to the report.
The report highlights sector-specific trends, revealing a 1.4% decrease in paid employees within the industrial sector, a notable 10.1% increase in the construction sector, and a 2.0% rise in the trade-services sector on an annual basis.
December 2023 also witnessed a 0.1% uptick in paid employee numbers compared to the previous month.
Breaking down the data by sector, the industrial sector saw a 0.3% decline in paid employees, while the construction sector experienced a modest 0.8% increase, and the trade-services sector saw a marginal 0.1% rise in paid employee numbers on a monthly basis.
The findings underscore the resilience of Türkiye's employment landscape, with sectors like construction and trade-services showing significant growth, albeit with variations across industries.
