Emergency in Gaza: Displaced families forced to flee hospital amid israeli sniper fire

The forced evacuation follows weeks of heavy israeli bombing and shooting attacks that isolated the medical facility and claimed civilian lives.

Palestinian citizens began evacuating the main hospital in Khan Younis on Wednesday morning, as shared by medics through videos. The evacuation was prompted after the israeli army airdropped pamphlets on Tuesday ordering displaced civilians to leave the premises.

An estimated 300 medics, 450 patients, and numerous displaced individuals were still sheltering in the hospital on Wednesday morning. However, reports emerged that displaced civilians who left the hospital were forced to return after israeli forces at a nearby checkpoint prevented their passage and reportedly detained some individuals.

The situation at the hospital remains dire, with Israeli armed quadcopters hovering over the premises as people evacuate. The Gaza Health Ministry reported casualties among displaced civilians after leaving the hospital, calling for urgent UN intervention to protect both Nasser Hospital and the civilians inside.

The health ministry highlighted deteriorating conditions at the hospital, including sewage water flooding the emergency room and a shortage of food supplies and drinking water. Medical waste accumulating in hallways poses a risk of disease outbreak, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis facing the hospital. (ILKHA)
