Turkish President Erdogan to visit Cairo, meeting Egyptian counterpart Sisi
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is scheduled to arrive in Cairo on Wednesday for a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, marking a significant step towards reconciliation between the two nations.
Erdogan announced on Monday that the discussions would encompass a wide range of topics, including concerted efforts to halt the ongoing "bloodshed" in the Gaza Strip. Additionally, Turkish state news agency Anadolu reported that the agenda would extend to economic, trade, tourism, energy, and defense matters.
This visit marks a new chapter in Turkish-Egyptian relations, considering Erdogan's last trip to Egypt occurred in 2012. The two leaders previously held strained relations, but recent years have witnessed a gradual thaw, culminating in this high-stakes meeting. (ILKHA)
