Magnitude 4.4 earthquake strikes Hakkari province in southeastern Türkiye
A moderate earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale struck the Yüksekova district of Hakkari province in southeastern Türkiye on Saturday morning, according to the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD).
The temblor occurred at approximately 07:36 local time (04:36 GMT) and was centered at a depth of 5.74 kilometers, with coordinates 37.40194 degrees north and 43.98944 degrees east.
While no immediate reports of damage or injuries have surfaced, the earthquake comes less than a year after the devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck southern Türkiye in February 2023.
AFAD continues to monitor the situation and urges residents to remain vigilant and follow safety precautions in case of aftershocks. (ILKHA)
