Altun's remarks come amid escalating tensions in the region, with israel accused of pursuing cultural genocide by erasing Palestinian heritage.

In a social media post shared in English, Altun highlighted Israel's targeting of archives, libraries, museums, and mosques, describing such actions as barbaric and constituting war crimes. He pointed out that the Israeli leadership's rhetoric and conduct are aimed at undermining Palestinian identity and culture, calling it unacceptable to anyone with a conscience, particularly the Western intellectual community.

Altun stressed that despite Israel's efforts to destroy Palestine's cultural legacy and monuments in Gaza, Palestinian aspirations for sovereignty and freedom remain unshaken. He called upon the international community to take decisive action to halt israel's destructive actions in Palestine and urged all parties to facilitate humanitarian aid access and resume negotiations.

"We call on all parties to facilitate humanitarian aid access and return to the negotiation table. Palestine’s sovereignty must be recognized and established. This is the only viable and durable solution," Altun remarked, underlining the urgency of addressing the ongoing crisis in Gaza. (ILKHA)
