The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reported losing contact with one of its ambulance crews during a mission to rescue a six-year-old Palestinian girl trapped in a car under Israeli fire in Gaza City.

The PRCS received a desperate call from 15-year-old Layan Hamadeh, seeking help for her family, including her six-year-old sister Hind, as their vehicle came under Israeli fire while attempting to flee the besieged city.

During the call, Layan informed the Red Crescent that their car was surrounded by Israeli tanks and forces. Moments later, the call was abruptly cut off following intense gunfire, leaving Layan unresponsive.

According to the PRCS, Layan was shot while on the phone, and Hind remained trapped inside the targeted vehicle. Despite sending an ambulance crew for the rescue late on Monday, there has been no communication with the medics for 18 hours.

The PRCS expressed deep concern about the fate of the missing crew, stating, "Information about them remains unknown, and we are extremely worried about their fate, unsure whether they succeeded in evacuating her or not."

Local sources confirmed that the attack occurred near the Islamic University of Gaza, an area subjected to relentless bombardment by the zionist occupation regime since the aggression began. The route to and from the location is now blocked by rubble, hindering ambulance access to the injured.

Hind was in the vehicle with her uncle Bashar Hamadeh's family during the attack, resulting in the tragic death of all family members, including four children. Hind, reportedly the sole survivor, awaited the rescue team.

Since the initiation of the Israeli onslaught on Gaza on October 7, ambulances, their crews, medics, and hospitals have been targeted. The sustained attacks have led to the cessation of operations in most Gaza hospitals due to bombings and supply shortages after nearly four months of intense Israeli assaults.

Israeli attacks have resulted in the death or injury of over 1,100 medical personnel in Gaza, with the overall toll exceeding 26,700 Palestinians, predominantly women and children. (ILKHA)
