Speaking at a government session, Mikati emphasized the importance of abiding by international legitimacy and respecting all international resolutions.

Addressing the imperative of stability in southern Lebanon and the border region, Mikati proposed a comprehensive approach, urging the implementation of all relevant international resolutions, including the 1949 ceasefire agreement.

“Let all international resolutions be implemented, starting with the ceasefire agreement issued in 1949, and all its provisions without any changes,” he added.

During discussions with international envoys, Mikati conveyed a clear message, asserting that focusing solely on calm in Lebanon is illogical. Drawing on Lebanon's Arab identity and principles, he advocated for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, alongside a serious ceasefire in Lebanon. Mikati expressed Lebanon's rejection of the suffering of its brothers and emphasized a willingness to engage in specific agreements with interested parties.

Additionally, Mikati commended South Africa's initiative to bring a lawsuit against Israel at the International Court of Justice for alleged genocide in Gaza. He expressed hope for a fair and prompt judgment reflecting respect for values, human rights, and international humanitarian law. (ILKHA)
