Turkish retail sales rise in November, fueled by non-food purchases

Turkish retail sales continued their upward trend in November 2023, recording increases both year-on-year and month-on-month, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TSI) on Friday.

Retail sales volume with constant prices increased by 12.8% in November 2023 compared with the same month of previous year. In the same month food, drinks and tobacco sales increased by 11.7%, non-food (except automotive fuel) sales increased by 17.0%, automotive fuel sales decreased by 0.8%.

Retail sales volume increased by 0.2% on monthly basis

Retail sales volume with constant prices increased by 0.2% in November 2023 compared with the previous month. In the same month food, drinks and tobacco sales decreased by 1.5%, non-food (except automotive fuel) sales increased by 0.7%, automotive fuel sales increased by 1.2%.

Retail turnover increased by 79.8% on annual basis

Retail turnover with current prices increased by 79.8% in November 2023 compared with the same month of previous year. In the same month food, drinks and tobacco sales increased by 80.8%, non-food (except automotive fuel) sales increased by 86.7%, automotive fuel sales increased by 56.6%.

Retail turnover increased by 3.6% on monthly basis

Retail turnover with current prices increased by 3.6% in November 2023 compared with the previous month. In the same month food, drinks and tobacco sales increased by 3.2%, non-food (except automotive fuel) sales increased by 4.4%, automotive fuel sales increased by 1.2%. (ILKHA)
