The discussions, held on Wednesday, included expressions of Iran’s commitment to bolster all-encompassing cooperation and support for the people of Afghanistan, as conveyed by Iran’s embassy in Kabul.

During the meeting, Kazemi Qomi highlighted Iran’s readiness to extend support and cooperation across various sectors. The discussions also touched upon Iran's initiative in establishing a regional contact group, aimed at hosting a joint meeting of special envoys from the region to address the challenges in Afghanistan.

Amir Khan Muttaqi, in response, praised Iran's efforts and initiative in proposing the regional contact group, seeing it as a valuable step toward regional collaboration on Afghan issues.

This ongoing dialogue follows a previous exchange between Kazemi Qomi and Muttaqi in December 2023. At that time, both representatives engaged in discussions regarding the formation of a regional contact group, signaling a joint effort to find solutions to the challenges faced by Afghanistan.

The recent meeting underscores the commitment of both Iran and Afghanistan to fostering positive diplomatic relations and collaborative efforts towards addressing regional concerns. (ILKHA)
