The election occurred during the 6th General Assembly of the IUMS in Doha, Qatar, which commenced yesterday and is scheduled to conclude on January 11. Over 2,000 scholars, thinkers, and academics from more than 80 countries participated in this significant event.
Ali Karadaghi, a founding member of the Union, secured an impressive victory by receiving 91% of the votes from participants during the congress. The assembly witnessed the active engagement of a delegation from ITTIHADUL ULEMA, led by Mullah Enver Kılıçaslan.
President of ITTIHADUL ULEMA, Mullah Enver Kılıçaslan, extended heartfelt congratulations to Ali Karadaghi on his election as the President of the IUMS. In a symbolic gesture, he presented Karadaghi with a model of the Dome of the Rock. Taking to his social media account, Mullah Kılıçaslan expressed, "I congratulate Ali Karadaghi, who has been elected as the president of the International Union of the Muslim Scholars (IUMS), and I wish him success."
Ali Muhyiddin al-Karadaghi, a Kurdish Sunni Muslim scholar, jurist, and theologian, is also the founder and president of the University of Human Development in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq. With a rich academic background, including a doctorate in Islamic jurisprudence from the University of Al-Azhar in Cairo, Egypt, he has become a prominent figure in the global Muslim scholarly community.
The IUMS plays a crucial role in addressing contemporary issues faced by the Muslim world.
