The collision occurred at 6:03 am local time near Cicalengka, involving an intra-city train with 287 passengers and a local line carrying 191 passengers. The front carriages of both trains were severely damaged, and some cars derailed and overturned in the aftermath of the crash.

The casualties reported so far involve train crew members, including the train driver, assistant, steward, and security guard. Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported among the nearly 500 passengers on board. The injured individuals have been evacuated to local hospitals, with conflicting reports on the number of injuries.

Rescue teams are working to recover the body of one train crew member believed to have died in the crash. The cause of the accident remains unknown, and the Transportation Ministry has deployed teams to assist with the evacuation and conduct an investigation.

Transport accidents are not uncommon in Indonesia, where issues related to the maintenance of buses, trains, and other vehicles contribute to such incidents. The authorities express condolences for the lives lost and injuries sustained in the accident, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the collision. (ILKHA)
