Türkiye's domestic producer price surges by 44.22% annually

Domestic Producer Price Index (D-PPI) increased by 44.22% on annual basis, by 1.14% on monthly basis, Turkish Statistical Institute said in a statement on Wednesday.

D-PPI (2003=100) increased by 1.14% on monthly basis, by 44.22% on December of the previous year basis, by 44.22% on same month of the previous year basis and by 49.93% on the twelve months moving averages basis in December 2023.

Manufacturing increased by 53.68% annually

D-PPI in four main sectors of industry increased by 65.59% for mining and stone quarrying, increased by 53.68% for manufacturing, decreased by 29.69% for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning, increased by 66.97% for water supply, annually.

The indices of main industrial groups; increased by 47.72% for intermediate goods, increased by 60.07% for durable consumer goods, increased by 64.37% for non-durable consumer goods, decreased by 1.69% for energy, increased by 65.07% for capital goods, annually.

Manufacturing increased by 2.00% monthly

D-PPI in four main sectors of industry increased by 2.00% for mining and stone quarrying, increased by 2.00% for manufacturing, decreased by 11.40% for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning, increased by 7.34% for water supply, monthly.

The indices of main industrial groups; increased by 2.54% for intermediate goods, increased by 2.50% for durable consumer goods, increased by 2.23% for non-durable consumer goods, decreased by 6.63% for energy, increased by 2.27% for capital goods, monthly.

Compared to general D-PPI, lower annual change observed in 7 subdivisions while 22 subdivisions were higher

The only rate of annual decrease in D-PPI by subdivisions of industry was index for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning by 29.69%. On the other hand, the highest rates of annual increase in D-PPI by subdivisions of industry were indices for other mining and quarrying products by 84.96%, for printing and recording services by 70.67%, for motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers by 70.34%.

Compared to general D-PPI, lower monthly change observed in 8 subdivisions while 21 subdivisions were higher

The highest rates of monthly decrease in D-PPI by subdivisions of industry were the indices for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning by 11.40%, for coke and refined petroleum products by 3.63%, for crude petroleum and natural gas by 2.27%. On the other hand, the highest rates of monthly increase in D-PPI by subdivisions of industry were indices for basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutic preparations by 7.35%, for water; water treatment and supply services by 7.34%, for wearing apparel by 4.30%.
