The Syrian source revealed that the country's air defense systems were activated in response to the Israeli aggression. "Syrian anti-aircraft gunners managed to repel the Israeli aggressive attack, intercepting some of the enemy's missiles on their approach to the capital," stated the defense official, as reported by Sputnik.

The attack on Damascus occurred at 1:20 a.m. local time (10:20 p.m. GMT) from the direction of the Golan Heights. The defense official clarified that while there was damage caused by the attack, there were no reported human casualties.

This recent incident follows another israeli airstrike earlier on the same day, at 11:05 p.m. local time (8:05 GMT), targeting the outskirts of the Syrian capital. In response, Syrian air defenses successfully intercepted most of the israeli missiles. Reports suggested that the strikes specifically targeted Damascus International Airport, which had recently resumed operations after being disabled by an Israeli airstrike on November 26.

Tensions between Israel and Syria remain high, with the recent military actions adding to the volatile situation in the region. The international community continues to monitor developments closely amid concerns of further escalation. (ILKHA)
