Turkish and Kazakh Presidents discuss Gaza crisis in phone call

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his Kazakh counterpart Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a phone conversation on Sunday, according to a statement from the Turkish presidency.

The two leaders discussed the latest developments in the israeli aggression on Gaza, and expressed their support for the Palestinian cause. They also praised Türkiye's efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza and condemned Israel's human rights violations.

Erdoğan and Tokayev agreed on the importance of taking steps to prevent Israel's violation of international law, to ensure a humanitarian ceasefire and to prevent the escalation of the conflict. They also decided to address these issues in detail during the upcoming summit of the Organization of Turkic States (Turkic Council) in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Additionally, Tokayev congratulated Erdoğan on the 100th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Türkiye, and Erdoğan offered his condolences to Tokayev for the mine accident that killed 12 workers in the Karaganda region of Kazakhstan. (ILKHA)
