In a statement released on X, Russell conveyed her extreme concern regarding the inability to communicate with UNICEF personnel in the besieged region.

"I’m extremely concerned about their safety and another night of unspeakable horror for 1M children in Gaza," stated Russell in her official statement.

Highlighting the dire circumstances faced by children and families in the Gaza Strip, Russell stressed the imperative need to protect all humanitarian workers operating in the region. "All humanitarians and the children and families they serve MUST be protected," she emphasized.

The statement from the UNICEF Executive Director underscores the distressing conditions and the urgent need to ensure the safety and protection of aid workers, particularly in Gaza, where an estimated more than one million children are enduring harrowing circumstances amidst the ongoing conflict.
