This statement comes amid reports of a possible israeli strike on Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza.
UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric stated: "We've said repeatedly that any attack on health care facilities will be a violation of international humanitarian law."
Dujarric, however, clarified that he could not confirm israel's allegations that the hospital is being used as "a terror operations base" by the Palestinian group Hamas.
He further noted that the hospital is not under UN management.
On Friday, the zionist army released audio and video materials, claiming that Al-Shifa Hospital is being utilized by Hamas for "terrorist activities."
In response, Hamas denied these allegations and called upon the UN to take action to prevent potential strikes on the hospital, highlighting that it provides shelter for thousands of civilians.
Al-Shifa Hospital, situated in the North Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City, stands as the largest medical complex and central hospital in the Gaza Strip.
Originally a British Army barracks, it was transformed into a hospital by the British Mandate of Palestine in 1946.
The hospital features various departments, including internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, ophthalmology, obstetrics, and gynecology. (ILKHA)
