Additionally, Borrell disclosed that the possibility of implementing a humanitarian ceasefire is under consideration and will be a topic of debate among the EU's 27 Member States.

Borrell emphasized the urgency of delivering "more aid, more quickly" to Gaza, expressing his concern that the few lorries that have managed to pass from Egypt to Gaza are insufficient to meet the escalating humanitarian needs in the region.

The senior EU diplomat underscored the necessity of a "humanitarian pause" to enable the effective distribution of much-needed humanitarian assistance in Gaza. Borrell's statement aligns with the call for a humanitarian ceasefire made by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

This issue is set to be discussed both in Luxembourg, where EU foreign ministers are convening for a meeting, and in Brussels, where leaders of the EU-27 will gather for a summit scheduled for Thursday and Friday.

The humanitarian ceasefire proposal, which seeks to address the dire situation in Gaza, is expected to take center stage in these crucial discussions among European Union member states. (ILKHA)
