During a speech from the Oval Office on Thursday, President Biden emphasized the importance of this budget request, which he believes will have a lasting positive impact on American security.

"It's a smart investment that's going to pay dividends for American security for generations," Biden stated. "The security package I'm sending to Congress is an unprecedented commitment to Israel's security that will sharpen Israel's qualitative military edge."

Biden further mentioned his commitment to sustaining the Iron Dome defense system to safeguard Israeli skies, ensuring Israel's resilience, and deterring potential regional threats.

It is anticipated that President Biden will seek an emergency funding allocation of approximately $100 billion, which will encompass defense assistance for Israel and Ukraine.

During his speech, Biden differentiated between the Palestinian group Hamas and Russian President Vladimir Putin, characterizing them as distinct threats, yet highlighting their shared ambitions to pose challenges to neighboring democracies.

This announcement coincides with ongoing israeli military operations against Palestinian civilians in Gaza, where the situation has grown increasingly dire.

A severe humanitarian crisis is unfolding in Gaza due to a lack of electricity, dwindling water and food supplies, fuel shortages, and limited medical resources.

The death toll in Gaza has risen to at least 3,785 Palestinians killed as a result of israeli attacks. (ILKHA)
