“The flames of the American-Israeli bombs that were dropped on the heads of the oppressed wounded Palestinians at Gaza's al-Ahli Baptist Hospital would soon devour Zionists,” Raisi wrote in a statement on X.
Earlier on the same day, Israeli airstrikes targeted the facility, resulting in the deaths of at least 500 civilians, predominantly women and children, according to the health ministry in Gaza. The actual toll could be higher as many victims remain trapped under the rubble.
Thousands of civilians had sought refuge and medical treatment at the hospital amid relentless Israeli airstrikes on the besieged Gaza Strip.
Raisi declared Wednesday a day of public mourning over the tragic incident, emphasizing that silence in the face of such war crimes is unacceptable.
Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian also condemned the attack, urging international unity against the "bogus regime" and its killing machine, describing the Israeli regime as "more hateful than Daesh."
The Iranian Foreign Ministry characterized the incident as a "savage war crime" and a form of "genocide." (ILKHA)
