Turkish security forces seize 75 infantry rifles in operations against PKK

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya revealed that targeted operations were executed against members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in Bitlis, Van, Hakkari, and Diyarbakır.

Taking to his social media account to provide details about the operations, Minister Yerlikaya shared that a substantial cache of weaponry, including 75 infantry rifles, was confiscated in the operations conducted across several provinces. The PKK was allegedly hiding these weapons and ammunition.

Yerlikaya stated: "Thanks to the intelligence efforts led by our Bitlis Provincial Gendarmerie Command, a significant operation took place in Aşağıçobansuyu Village in the Central district, resulting in the seizure of 70 AK-47 infantry rifles and 14,012 pieces of ammunition in various sizes.”

He continued by outlining the outcomes of operations in other regions, saying: “In the operation carried out by the Van Provincial Gendarmerie Command in Başkale, 3 infantry rifles and a large quantity of ammunition of various content were recovered. Additionally, operations conducted by Hakkari and Diyarbakır Provincial Gendarmerie Commands, including land searches in #Yüksekova and Lice, led to the confiscation of 2 infantry rifles, 4 hand grenades, and an improvised explosive device (IED.”

The operations signify Türkiye's ongoing efforts to counteract the activities of the PKK, which has been designated as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the United States, and the European Union. (ILKHA)
