The event, attended by scholars, academics, politicians, NGO representatives, and opinion leaders from the Islamic world, revolves around the theme "Guiding the Islamic Awakening."
In his insightful speech, Prof. Kerîm emphasized the natural inclination of humanity to love their homeland, a sentiment that Islam acknowledges. However, he cautioned against prioritizing this love over devotion to Allah, His Messenger, and jihad in the way of Allah.
"The love for one's homeland must align with the principles of Shari'ah. It is impermissible for an individual to prioritize love for their country over devotion to Allah, His Messenger, and jihad in the way of Allah," Prof. Kerîm stressed.
The meeting, which began at ITTIHAD's headquarters on Saturday, entered its second day with two sessions following a temporary halt after yesterday's proceedings.
Under the chairmanship of Dr. Hêmin Ömer Ahmed, the first session saw Prof. Dr. Imad Muhammad Kerîm addressing the gathering on the complex issues of "Racism, National Belonging, and the Kurdish issue."
Prof. Kerîm underscored the innate nature of love for one's homeland but highlighted the need for this sentiment to conform to Shari'ah guidelines. He addressed the Kurdish problem as an ongoing challenge within the Muslim community, emphasizing the responsibility of devoted Muslims to seek solutions in accordance with Islamic principles.
"The Kurdish issue, a long-standing concern that has consumed Muslim efforts, wealth, and blood, demands serious attention and Sharia-compliant solutions. The zealous followers of Islam must work diligently to halt bloodshed and thwart external exploitation. This remains an unresolved matter that requires sincere efforts," Kerîm stated.
Expressing hope for the gathering's productivity, he concluded by affirming that success lies with Allah, and trust is placed in Him.
As the Islamic Scholars Meeting progresses, various experts and leaders from the Islamic world are engaging in discussions on crucial topics such as the challenges facing the Muslim community, strategies for promoting unity, and ways to guide the Islamic awakening. (ILKHA)
