In a statement posted on social media platform X, Kurtulmuş expressed his outrage at the incident and voiced concerns over the perceived double standards in Europe.
“I strongly condemn the dastardly act of an Islamophobic fascist who dared to attack our holy book, the Holy Quran, in front of the Turkish Embassy in The Hague," Kurtulmuş declared.
The Speaker highlighted what he saw as a troubling inconsistency in Europe's commitment to its proclaimed principles. He argued that while Europe champions values such as democracy, equality, the rule of law, and respect for beliefs and cultures, these principles seem to be disregarded when it comes to Islam and Muslims. Kurtulmuş further criticized Western countries for their silence in the face of such provocative acts.
"This situation is shameful and worrisome for the future of Europe," Kurtulmuş remarked, emphasizing the need for Europe to address the rising tide of Islamophobia and fascism.
"As Türkiye, we will continue to stand against these heinous incidents. We are determined to protect our spiritual values, our cognates, and co-religionists in Europe against the fascism and Islamophobia that is growing before the eyes of Europe," Kurtulmuş underlined.
In a resolute tone, he concluded by asserting that no matter the challenges faced, humanity will ultimately prevail, and the light of the Qur'an will continue to guide all of humanity until the Day of Judgment.
