The statement, posted on the ministry's social media account, said that the "Border Eagles" working in the northwestern province of Edirne captured the five people while they were trying to cross the border illegally.

“As a result of the investigation, it was determined that four of the captured persons were members of the FETO terrorist organization,” the ministry said.

Turkish government's determination to combat FETO, also known as the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization, remains steadfast. The group has been designated as a terrorist organization by the Turkish authorities and is accused of orchestrating a coup attempt in 2016. This recent apprehension is seen as another significant step in the ongoing efforts to thwart FETO's activities and protect the nation's security.

The successful interception of these individuals attempting to escape to Greece underscores Türkiye's ongoing commitment to combatting terrorism and maintaining the security of its borders. As the legal process unfolds, authorities will work diligently to uncover any additional information related to their intentions and connections within the FETO network. (ILKHA)
