Upon receiving information that there were irregular migrants in life rafts off the coast, Coast Guard boats were deployed to the region.

The migrants were found to have been pushed back to Turkish territorial waters by Greek elements.

All 62 migrants were brought ashore safely. In addition, 128 irregular migrants, including women and children, were apprehended in both provinces.

After the necessary procedures, the irregular migrants were sent to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management.

This incident is the latest in a series of reports of Greece pushing back irregular migrants to Turkish waters, a practice that has been condemned by Türkiye and human rights groups as a violation of international law. (ILKHA)
