This meeting marked another significant step in the ongoing diplomatic efforts to maintain open lines of communication and responsibly manage the complex relationship between the United States and China.

The discussions were characterized by their candor and depth, building on previous engagements, including the meeting between President Biden and President Xi in Bali, Indonesia, in November 2022.

National Security Advisor Sullivan had previously met with Director Wang Yi in May in Vienna, reflecting the commitment to regular and meaningful dialogue.

The agenda covered a wide range of crucial topics, including key issues within the U.S.-China bilateral relationship, global and regional security matters, and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, where Russia is engaged in warfare. Additionally, both sides addressed cross-Strait issues, among others.

During the talks, the United States emphasized the significance of maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, highlighting its commitment to regional security.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to this strategic channel of communication and expressed their intention to pursue further high-level engagements and consultations in essential areas of the U.S.-China relationship over the coming months.

This meeting reflects the continued efforts of the United States and the People's Republic of China to navigate their complex relationship and work toward solutions on pressing global issues. (ILKHA)
