The most recent seismic event, measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale, was centered near Marrakech.

The Moroccan Geological Institute reported that the 4.8-magnitude tremor occurred at 06:53 local time in the city of Iglil, situated in the El-Huz region. The tremors were strong enough to be felt in the nearby city of Marrakech.

Tragically, the initial 7.0 magnitude earthquake, which struck just days ago, has already claimed a staggering toll. Official figures reveal that 2,946 lives have been lost, and 5,674 individuals have been injured in the wake of that catastrophic event.

Moroccan authorities and international relief organizations are continuing their efforts to provide aid and support to the affected regions, but the ongoing aftershocks are hampering rescue and recovery operations, adding to the challenges faced by the affected communities. (ILKHA)
