The incident transpired in Kohistan district, where a passenger bus veered off the road due to overspeeding, as reported by Sajid Ali Yousafzai, the district emergency officer of state-run Rescue 1122 in the area.

The ill-fated bus was en route to Islamabad from Pakistan's northern Gilgit-Baltistan region when the accident unfolded.

In the aftermath of the mishap, the injured individuals were promptly transferred to a nearby hospital. Several of them were in critical condition, indicating the severity of the accident.

Among the injured passengers were women and children, with the most severely affected individuals receiving further medical attention at a hospital equipped with better facilities located in Abbottabad district, as confirmed by the rescue teams.
