WHO offers support to Morocco after earthquake affecting over 300,000

World Health Organization (WHO) expressed its deepest condolences and unwavering support to the people of Morocco who have been tragically affected by a devastating earthquake that struck on Saturday.

World Health Organization (WHO) expressed its deepest condolences and unwavering support to the people of Morocco who have been tragically affected by a devastating earthquake that struck on Saturday.

The catastrophe has claimed the lives of hundreds and left more than 300,000 individuals in Marrakech and its surrounding areas grappling with the aftermath.

"WHO expresses sincere condolences and support to the people of Morocco affected by the tragic earthquake that struck on 8 September, killing hundreds and affecting more than 300,000 people in Marrakech and surrounding areas," the World Health Organization declared.

WHO said that its country-level team in Morocco, as well as its regional and headquarters teams, are on standby to support the national response and ensure that health services are quickly delivered where needed, including for trauma care.

WHO also said that it is working with the Moroccan government to assess the needs of the affected population and to provide the necessary assistance. (ILKHA)
