Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi welcomed Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his delegation to Tehran, expressing optimism about the future of bilateral cooperation between Iran and Turkey during the new term of President Erdogan's leadership.

Raisi addressed the security concerns that Turkey faces in the region and emphasized that respecting the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of all regional countries is the most effective way to combat terrorism.

He highlighted the importance of governments exercising sovereignty over their entire territories to prevent terrorist activities.

Raisi also underscored the rich cultural and historical ties shared between Iran and Turkey, expressing his hope for an enhanced level of cooperation between the two nations under President Erdogan's new term.

Regarding foreign presence in various regions, including the Caucasus, the Iranian President advocated for dialogue and cooperation as the means to resolve conflicts, emphasizing the need to address problems through peaceful means.

Raisi pointed to the activation of the Joint Economic Cooperation Commission as a valuable step in promoting increased trade interactions between Iran and Turkey and the exchange of mutual potential.

In response, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan highlighted the substantial potential for expanded cooperation and interaction between Iran and Turkey. He expressed confidence in the possibility of raising bilateral trade to $30 billion and stressed Turkey's commitment to achieving this goal.

Fidan called for the support of Iran's leaders in boosting the level of interaction between the two countries and sought the Islamic Republic of Iran's backing for Turkey's membership in the BRICS group. He also encouraged dialogue and cooperation between Iran and Turkey in addressing regional issues.

The meeting between President Raisi and Foreign Minister Fidan reaffirms the commitment of both nations to strengthen their ties and work together on various fronts, including economic cooperation and regional stability. (ILKHA)
