Ambassador Erginay, who had served in Afghanistan for the past two and a half years, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with the Islamic Emirate. He emphasized that Türkiye's primary focus has consistently been the well-being and prosperity of the Afghan people.
The Turkish Ambassador commended the Islamic Emirate for ensuring the security of the Turkish embassy and consulate in Afghanistan and pledged to increase Türkiye's assistance and cooperation with Afghanistan in the future.
One notable highlight of their discussion was the substantial growth in commercial ties between Türkiye and Afghanistan, currently estimated at $300 million annually. Ambassador Erginay expressed optimism about further expanding trade, aiming for a future trade volume of one billion dollars between the two nations. He also highlighted Türkiye's efforts to encourage Turkish businessmen and investors to invest in Afghanistan.
Deputy Prime Minister Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi reciprocated the warm sentiments, underscoring the enduring and close friendship between the Afghan and Turkish people, characterized by historically positive relations. He reiterated the Islamic Emirate's eagerness to foster stronger political, economic, commercial, and educational connections with Türkiye.
Furthermore, Hanafi welcomed the prospect of increased trade and economic cooperation between the two nations. He expressed hopes for the facilitation of visa issuance to Afghan businessmen, along with the Islamic Emirate's commitment to support Turkish investors across various sectors in Afghanistan.
